Dr. Kashmir Singh is a shareholder and mentor at Antaya Biosciences Private Limited. He holds a B.Sc. in Medical Sciences and an M.Sc. in Botany from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, completed in 1998 and 2000 respectively. He earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT) in 2007.
Dr. Singh has extensive postdoctoral and international research experience. He served as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland (2007–2008), focusing on gene expression studies. He later worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Plant Pathology at Missouri State University, USA (2009–2010), and as a Visiting Scientist at McGill University, Canada (2012–2013) in the Department of Plant Science.
In academia, Dr. Singh has been associated with Panjab University, Chandigarh, where he served as an Assistant Professor (2005–2017), Associate Professor (2017-2020) and currently holds the position of Professor (2020–present) in the Department of Biotechnology. He was elected Chairperson of the Department (2019–2022), and has held several key administrative roles, including Secretary to the Vice Chancellor (2022–2023), and IPR Chair Professor under DPIIT, Government of India (2022–2023). He is currently the Coordinator of the DST Centre for Policy Research (since 2022).
Dr. Singh’s contributions to science have been widely recognized. He was elected as an INSA Associate Fellow in 2024 and received the INSA Bilateral Exchange Fellowship in 2018. He currently leads five active research projects and has successfully completed 13 projects to date. His scholarly output includes:
- Publications: 122 research articles, 18 review papers, 22 book chapters, and 3 authored books
- Patents: 3 granted patents and 3 patent applications under review
- Supervision: Guided 18 Ph.D. scholars as a supervisor and 7 as a co-supervisor
Dr. Singh has served on several academic and scientific committees, including:
- Member, Board of Studies in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Panjab University
- Chairman, Board of Control in Biotechnology, MRSPTU, Bathinda
- Member, Research Monitoring Committee in Botany, Panjab University
- Reviewer, US-Israel BARD and MARD Grant Programs
- Editorial Board Member and Reviewer for reputed international journals, including Scientific Reports, BMC Plant Biology, and Frontiers in Genetics
Dr. Singh continues to contribute actively to academic leadership, research innovation, and policy development in the field of biotechnology.
